Charles Addams cartoons helped me to get through some depressing times in my childhood. I loved the dreariness and macabre mood of the Addams family and it cheered me greatly. Charles Addams' biography that came out in the last few years is fascinating, especially in describing how the 'Addams Family' came about.
To be funny, something has to have an edge to it, has to take a chance. Either that or capture a true human or animal quality bang on. It's always been the dark stuff that's made me laugh, by going right up to the line without crossing over. Thanks for the Addams.
I'll post the other half of the book as soon as I get the chance to scan it! I'm just getting my entire collection out of storage and I'm seeing stuff I haven't seen in several years...I know there's some more Addams books in there!

I always loved the rather clouded lighting his cartoons had - brilliant work all around.

When I was 7 or 8 years old I had paperback collection of Addams' cartoons that I reread until it fell apart. Great stuff!
What can you say about Charles Addams...the secondary-theme of spousal murder is hilarious!
these are great. I'm nowhere near as familiar with Addams as I should be. any chance of the other half.
