My very first piece of original art was a watercolor of Tracy sent to me from Chester Gould in 1963. I used to write him constantly. I clipped all the Tracy strips from the Chicago Tribune growing up in Chicago. I have a great Flattop daily on my wall. Thanks Dave!
Many thanks for the Dick Tracy's. I read him in the NY Daily News in the 1960s and 70s. I will always remember the trajectories of bullets which had passed through the heads of bad guys.
I also remember Dick replying to a criminal who demanded his "Constitutional rights"; said Dick, "I'll give you a Constitutional left!" It was a left hook, of course.
In his latter days, Mr. Gould would have his crew stop for a brief prayer, before taking on the villans.
I remember Gould supposedly had a "graveyard" for deceased bad guys in his backyard.
Dick Tracy has always been one of my favorites. I can recall getting a Dick Tracy toy pistol and detective badge one Christmas when I was five years old.
I can also recall one night when I was maybe eight or nine, being told to wake up because I was having a nightmare. I was told I was saying "Dick Tracy is killing Popeye!" Fortunately, my parents allowed me to continue reading comic books and comic strips, and watching cartoons on TV.

Thanks for the memories.
