Ah, I was just thinking about these, as a result of Thomas Buchanan's blog. I loved this strip... it's one of my favorite Kubert works, along with Enemy Ace. I really think this is Kubert at his best! Glen
I never saw any of this before -- and I feel like I'm seeing a whole side of Kubert I never saw in his comic book work. Thanks so much for presenting these strips!
Much like Enemy Ace, this is a comic that reflects the bad guys point of view and attempts to humanize him. The bad guys, here, are the U.S. arm forces, which were the villains of the piece to many of us during the Vietnam era. Make War No More! Kubert has stated that, despite putting that sticker at the end of all DC war stories (for PR reasons), his sympathies were of the hawkish variety. Well, that's what makes a horse race.
Thanks much for sharing this material, which is wonderfully illustrated, no matter one's political orientation, and never (to my knowledge) reprinted. =link

My newspaper stopped carrying the strip by the time most of these published, so thanks for these Mr. DoorTree—and hey, thanks for the plug!
