As Far as I know the Sid CheckAvengers page was a tryout page that never went any further! I was told this came out of Checks's New York storage space that was sold in the late early 80's!

Wonderful stuff! But what is the story behind the Sid Check AVENGERS page? Was this just a tryout? Or was he ghosting on the book at some point?

I had forgotten about Steve Hickman until seeing this post. He and Harper both were favorites when I was a kid. What became of those guys?
Hickman has had a stellar career as a SF and Fantasy PB artist -- he may have even won the photo.
Kaluta once told me Harper moved to, I believe, New Mexico, and became an abstract painter.
Both talented fellows.
