These early works from the forties by Crandall are incredible! Thanks for posting them, I was not aware that his comic work went that far back. It is interesting to compare his work from this period to his sixties work such as the Burroughs illustrations. The Burroughs stuff is technically well rendered, but the figures seem somehow stiff even in action poses. Crandall's early art did not have that stiffness and exhibits a lot of dynamism.
Whoa! I didn't know Crandall did any Kaanga stories at all. Great looking stuff. As much as I love Jesse Marsh, makes you wonder what Crandall could have done on the Dell Tarzan comic.
