This is a great loss to the art world. Jones was probably the most painterly of the artists who made up the loose conglomerate known as The Studio. An Excellent selection to offer as a memorial. Just fished out my copy of the 1979 Dragons Dream volume of The Studio and will be looking through it to the wee hours with a whiskey and drinking to Jeffrey Catherine Jones.

Okay, am I remembering correctly that the last time I visited this site, you had already chosen a Jones painting as the post for that day the night before? Had you heard that he was ill, or was it just a spooky coincidence?

A superb Artist. I remember him as the "other guy" to Frazetta and later Boris as far as the top painters for Books, Record Album Art, etc... His painting Was a inspiration. It's nice to see such a fine online body of his work. Thanks.

Jeff Jones was one of the top Popular Book , record album art, etc. and was a inspiration. I remember him as the "other guy" when I was a teen. The other guy to The Great Frank Frazetta and later Boris, not too bad of company..It's very rare for me to comment-but he was one of the greats and I am pleased such a fine body of work of his is reproduced here so well-thanks. rest in peace Mr. Jones.

I take exception with comments...Jones was never the other guy...Jones is one of the greatest artists of the 20th Century!
