The poor ol' Phantom -- missing his mask -- and some fingers as well! Seriously, though -- nice job on those kits. I assume these are the original done-as-a-kid paint jobs? Far better than most one sees on vintage Aurora build-ups.

Thankfully, for those of us who lacked the foresight to keep our originals, these have been reissued in recent years -- along with many other vintage kits -- and more to come!

Terry,

Yup, these are done as kids paint jobs! I was ten when Frank was issued and my brother was only six and at this point we were diehard monster nuts! Our shared bedroom was plastered with pictures of our monster friends, many purchased from the some what flighty Captain Company! It was a holy moment when they kits were first released and we didn't trust ourselves to assemble and paint them so we hornswaggled our older sister to take on the task! She had great artistic abilities and my brother and I sat at the dining room table in awe as she put them together! As each kit was released we would go through the same holy ritual...she did a terrific job and remain some of the best built-ups I've ever seen! Some of my favorite memories as a kid...a much simpler time that is sorely missing today!

Looking at these models certainly takes me back right to the dining room table with you kids watching me paint and put these things together. You are right! It was a much simpler and less confusing time. The models have held up well, considering they about 50 years old.
