That crosshatching by reed Crandall is awe-inspiring.
The Crandall and Grandenetti adaptations were written by Archie Goodwin. I think Archie also wrote Sutton's "Masque" adaptation. As far as I know Tom Sutton adapted "Usher" and Wrightson "The Black Cat".Tremendous stuff!
While the art is nicely done, I am rather irritated by the fact that the artist has altered Poe's stories. Pacé the ending of The Cask... That is not an improvement.
Fantastic art. I got the Bernie Wrightson story as a colored reprint but I didn´t know the other stories. Terrific find !
